Internet Marketing needs flair

Monday, June 13th, 2011

The world of search engine optimisation is becoming ever more competitive and the campaigns which are being run on behalf of clients are getting more sophisticated as time advances. It has become very hard for the average site owner to even contemplate devising their own strategies. Even some specialists are finding it problematic to stay ahead of the game, even though more investment is sensibly being put into search engine optimisation and pay per click.

At SEO Consult Australia, we try hard to deliver focused campaigns that work well on several different fronts. In addition, we make every effort to share tips with site owners to boost their appreciation of what remains a complex topic. This is not easy because every site responds somewhat differently to a particular intervention. Nevertheless, by stressing the need to be sensitive to the specificities of individual sites, this problem can be minimised.

Web marketing cannot be reduced to a set of well-defined techniques that can be bolted onto any site. This means that there is a need to look at the techniques in some detail. It is vital to study how they can blend together. It is even more interesting to observe where elements of creativity and flair can be injected into the processes concerned. It is in these areas where an edge over some of the competition can be established.

Even humble content permits for creative flair to have an effect. Link building too is somewhere in which an artistic gift can fare well. Online marketing has some very technical components, but there is always scope for more imaginative approaches to work well in coordination with them.

Establish Your Authority to Attract Google News

Monday, May 9th, 2011

When you’re trying to get featured in Google News, whether you’re aiming a single article or trying to have your site chosen as a news resource, authority is a deciding factor. If your article or site has no clout, you have no chance of convincing Google of your newsworthiness.

There are a few things you can do to achieve the appearance of authority, when targeting Google News as an avenue for SEO:

*Site speed. Basic site functionality is not something you’d think of in connection with Google News, but the search engine looks for the things it associates with professional news sites. Media agencies can’t afford to keep readers waiting for stories, so they tend to be fast and functional. Getting your site’s download times up to speed is a move in search engine optimisation in general, and you can talk to us at SEO Consult Australia about this.

*Awards. If your site has won any awards, make sure you display them. Awards and associations have long been used to establish authority, and you should be doing this as part of your regular search engine optimisation. If you have any awards related to the site’s content, then feature them prominently.

*Attribution of sources. News stories are more believable when they cite their sources. Google trawls through content to determine its newsworthiness, so multiple sources cited in one article can help build the authority of your piece.

*Timely posting. If you’re trying to target Google News, you will need to step up your publishing schedule. While posting every day or every few days may satisfy your SEO needs, this has to be increased to help your Google News attraction. When you’re trying to get a single article noticed, the time of your post will also count, so consider carefully the time of day you’re planning to post.
