Finally, the wait is over, and despite speculation that we would not get another update after the removal of PageRank tracking in Google’s webmaster tools, the latest PageRank update has arrived.
So, what does this mean for the SEO of your site? Well, the actual PageRank figure is a live figure. The PageRank figure that is released and that you see on the PageRank toolbars is only true for the moment that it is exported to the toolbar, don’t expect a sudden change in your SERPs, either up or down. Your live PR figure will have been moving over the last months, as will your rankings.
Google made clear when removing the tracking from webmaster tools, that it is not the be all and end all when trying to boost your sites rankings. Whilst PageRank is a good indication of the Authority of your site, how it has changed since the last update, and remains an important influence in rankings, don’t be transfixed by your PageRank figure. PR is but one metric in the measurement of your site’s ranking and over obsession about it can be dangerous. A well rounded SEO Strategy taking into account the PageRank figure remains crucial to moving your site up in the Rankings
