Google has announced the addition of yet another exciting feature to its website. Google has not been involved with online music despite other search engines such as Yahoo providing a music streaming service but this has now changed. It had appeared that Google had no interest in the market of online music but it is now clear that this is not the case.

It has been revealed that Google will offer searchers the opportunity to listen to music and to also purchase music from the search results pages that are displayed when a search is carried out. This is a massive development for Google and a new feature that is likely to attract the attention and praise of many Google users. Music is extremely popular online and Google has finally recognised how beneficial this kind of feature could be for its website and users.

The music on the Google website will be provided by major music services that operate online. This feature will be neatly displayed in what is referred to as a ‘one box’ which will be similar to how information such as financial news and weather is offered by Google. This feature will be displayed at the top of the search results pages offered by Google so will be easily accessed but will not interfere with the displaying of the Google search results.

Google is currently the most popular and successful search engine in the world and it wants to continue to be so by not only offering its users high quality and relevant results consistently, but also by offering them other extra features that they may find really appealing and genuinely useful.

The big labels in the music industry, such as Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group, Universal Group and EMI Music, are all involved in this new development and are viewing it as highly advantageous for the online music industry. It is believed that by making it quicker and easier for internet users to find and purchase music online, they will attract even more business and make the online music industry more competitive.

While Google will not yet generate revenue from this new business plan, if this idea takes off and is successful like many believe it will undoubtedly be, it is highly likely that Google will benefit from this development financially in the future.

This new feature from Google is another display of the importance and influence Google has online. It is currently the most successful search engine and intends on keeping this the case. This means that is hugely important that those with online businesses use a search engine optimisation campaign to help them to be ranked on the first page of the Google search results.
