Google already provides its users with a range of extremely useful webmaster tools that enables them to explore important details and aspects of their websites and search engine optimisation campaigns. It is now developing its Lab program further with the addition of two new features which it hopes will be useful and helpful for website owners. These new features are already receiving a lot of attention and many users are excited and eager to see the results these new tools are able to provide.

Malware Details is one of these new features and this tool explores websites for malicious code and infection and then informs the website owner of the necessary details. This can be highly advantageous for business owners as websites which are found to be infected are highlighted as a risk when searchers are provided with the website details in the search results. This can of course deter many searchers from visiting a website and so it is important that website owners are aware of any malware problems with their websites. Google currently informs website owners when a malware issue does occur when the search engine has been exploring the website but it is often difficult for the website owner to then locate the malicious code. This new feature from the Labs program means a lot more detail about the infection and any problems can be given and this means that the issues can be resolved more quickly and efficiently.

Google is not claiming that all infection will be detected with this new tool but that it will significantly contribute to the reduction of infected websites as website owners will be made aware of malicious code quickly and will be provided with the necessary information so they are able to clean their websites appropriately and fix any weaknesses within their websites.

The second feature from the Labs program is Fetch as Googlebot and this has been developed so that webmasters can see what the Googlebot explores and retrieves from their pages and can highlight any issues within a website that may stop it from being ranked highly in the Google SERPs. Website owners are always eager to learn and understand more about how the Googlebot works and how it evaluates a website it visits and this tool will provide them with more information like this.

Both new features in the Google Lab program will provide website owners with important, relevant and useful details that can help them to improve the performance of their websites. These tools are likely to be popular and successful and it is also likely that more features like this will be added to the Google Labs program in the near future.
