The world of the internet is ever-growing and becoming increasingly competitive. There are a great number of websites out there that would do anything and everything to get ahead. In a way this is entirely understandable. Getting ahead means earning money, it means upping your bread and butter. However, this leaves much to be desired about a fair way of getting to the top.

That is why there is such a thing as search engine optimization. Optimization levels the playing field a little in order to make the climb to the top fair. Search engines are constantly evolving and learning. They are getting smarter about the ways people buck the system and cheat their way to the top.

They are also continuously finding ways to combat black and grey hat SEO. A very well-known term is organic SEO. Now, organic SEO has absolutely nothing to do with pesticide and hormone free plants. Oh no, it has more to do with the natural ways of gaining better optimization and SERP ranking.

Organic versus synthetic

When looking at organic SEO, it takes longer and is often a far more painstaking process than simply synthesizing a good SERP rank through other methods. Ok, let’s first look at how you can augment your current rank into something better in a non-organic way. This means paying for anything that will get you noticed faster. Pay per click advertising and most forms of online marketing that are paid for are not organic SEO.

Organic SEO is where you allow your hard work to pay off by helping you climb to the top. Quality web design, great content and offering value to visitors is what organic SEO is all about, not paying for a better rank through advertising methods. This is not to say that paying for online advertising is bad, it is just not organic.

Don’t sit on your laurels

If you think that, once you have optimized your website to within an inch of its life, you can sit back and relax, think again. Sitting on your laurels is going to get you nowhere. You need to be proactive in getting your organic SEO to grow and flourish. Leaving your website to fend for itself is only going to sink it.

Doing the dirty work

One of the first ways you can help increase your organic SEO power is by getting your website listed in search engine directories. This will help you drive traffic to your website not only through search engine searches but also through the directory. Increasing your traffic in this way will help increase your popularity and thus your page rank too.

Surf the internet in search of similar websites to yours that will offer you quality back links. Build relationships with these websites and look into link exchanges and other forms of link building. This way you can offer your own visitors even more value when visiting your website and you build on your links. Organic back links from other websites will help to increase your page rank through increased credibility as well as increased traffic.
