Google, SEO and trust

There’s a lot of advice on SEO forums about how to gain Google’s trust, but what about the question pointing the other way? Site owners need to know exactly how far they can trust Google when it comes to the advice and search engine optimisation tools on offer.

Google’s webmasters offer a generous amount of advice. Similarly generous is the range of free tools on offer. Both are useful. However, there are some things to be cautious about:
*Keep updated. Old Google blog posts may contain outdated information.
*Cross-check. SEO experts tend to explore the more exciting Google updates, and you may find useful information on industry forums.
*Expand. Some tools, such as the keyword tool, have limited results. Investigate their limitations.

It’s also important not to forget that there are other search engine contenders aside from Google. Bing is a very strong force in search, and various social media sites are also worth considering in your SEO plan. As with all free advice, it’s important to assess the value of what the search engine representatives say before acting on it.

Find someone you can trust

Unless you’re able to dedicate a staff member to SEO in-house, it can be difficult to keep up with the changes in the optimisation industry. It’s a good idea to find a source of SEO advice that you can rely on, either in the form of an SEO company or a forum full of experts. You can discuss your needs with us at SEO Consult Australia.
