Search engine optimisation is extremely important for businesses as it helps them to increase the amount of traffic that visits their sites. However, if the landing pages in these websites have not been efficiently produced, this increase in traffic and therefore increase in potential sales is actually being wasted. It is hugely beneficial to get internet users to your website but once they are there you must provide them with the necessary information and assistance so that they will understand what your business is about and what you can offer them.

Due to the way search engines operate, any optimised page in your website could be a landing page for visitors depending on the search query and keywords they have entered. Whilst it is of great importance that the homepage of a website is created appropriately, it is also important to ensure that other web pages are also suitable for visitors and that they are useful and informative for visitors.

There are two major things to consider when checking that the web pages of your website are suitable as landing pages.

The information on a web page must be presented clearly and in small sections so that it is possible for the visitor to read content that they think may be relevant quickly and easily. If content is provided in one long section, it may deter them from reading and learning about the website. Internet users are a lot more likely to read information that has been divided into appropriate and manageable sections. Doing this will help you to inform visitors about what you can offer and how they will benefit from this and visitors will be shown useful, relevant and interesting information that will hopefully satisfy their searching needs.

A landing page must also be able to direct visitors to other web pages within the website. It is possible that the information they are interested in is not contained on just one page and further pages may need to be explored in order for a sale to be made. Therefore, every page must give users the option to access other pages in a quick and simple way. Providing users with a table of website contents on every page is one way to ensure that they will always be able to access web pages of importance wherever they are on the website. If a visitor can’t find what they are looking for easily, it is likely that they will give up quite quickly and will begin exploring another website instead.

Offering users a quick and easy way to navigate around the website is also of great importance if you want them to take advantage of what you have to offer.

Making sure that your web pages are suitable as landing pages for searchers being directed from the search engines is highly important if you want these visitors to become customers.
