Humans have different expectations for their lives and their businesses. Each person has unique ideas of what is satisfactory. Every website out there that is active with an organic search engine optimisation campaign has their own ideas and requirement. Every website owner measures the success of his or her SEO according to different criteria.

For some people the number one spot is the only thing that matters; nothing else is good enough. Others again are quite happy to aim for the top three in search results pages.

The third group is totally satisfied if they get listed on the first page in the search results. To each his own and everyone is right in their wants and needs. Many people though forget a very important thing’ the SERPS do not stay static, they change every day.

Metrics

The success of optimisation efforts cannot be measured on a single factor, many important measures must be taken into account when the success on the whole is measured. The internet is a global market place and as such is forever in motion, ratings do not stay stable. Success must therefore be measured within the context of all the applicable metrics, not only where the website is ranked during searches.

Increase traffic

You can increase your web traffic via the search engines. Your SEO efforts through exact key phrases and especially long tail key phrases can increase your ranking. This lifts your ranking in the SE’s. Most wise search engine optimisation campaigns will include website submission to multiple directories. This is the way to increase your web traffic via referring websites.

Directories leads to website profile increase within the global online community. At the same time it increases awareness amid searchers. Increases traffic by optimising for new users and repeat visitors.

This is done by not only identifying what visitors are your primary markets, but also what visitors are your secondary markets. Repeat visitors normally search by entering your website URL directly into their web browser or searching with your website name. New visitors will come either through a SE search or via referral links.

Study the bounce rate

By studying your website bounce rates you can adjust your search engine optimisation efforts. Low bounce rates mean people find what they are looking for on your website. They are staying and browse your site. This means your call to action if highly effective. If your bounce rate is very high it means you have to make changes.

People are no finding the information that brought them to your website in the first place. The only way for any online marketer to be successful is constant maintenance. You cannot neglect the ongoing testing and analysing of what is working and what is not.

To maximise website search engine optimisation efforts constant vigilance is necessary. It is a case of spotting immediately where tweaking and fine tuning must be done. Online marketing is too highly competitive to be lax. Measuring and analysing cannot be done every six months if you want to succeed.
