There are a number of black hat SEO which can be adopted by a company and in most cases this is not an innocent decision as webmaster are fully aware of the consequences of using such methods. In most cases what they would be doing is to try and take chances and at least make some cheap scores which may be short lived.
Doorway pages a nuisance for the human eye
what happens in many cases is that the web masters may focus more on ranking without thinking of what the is the effect of the contents on the website. In many cases, they through the sole purpose of having a site through the window and concentrate more on the ranking and not returns. In almost all cases, the purpose of having a site that would be promoted is to increase traffic to the site.
The increase in traffic should lead to an increase in the number of purchases which would have been made. This would not be the case if you use doorway pages. These are pages added to a website solely to target a specific keyword phrase or phrases and provide little in the way of value to a visitor. Generally the content on these pages provide no information and the page is only there to promote a phrase in hopes that once a visitor lands there, that they will go to the homepage and continue on from there.
Redirects may redirect the reader’s attention to other sites
another black hat tactic which is used is redirecting and this is often used as a compliment to doorway pages. What usually happens is that when one has a doorway page, in other words a useless page for the human eye, they would then redirect the reader to another useful page for example the home page. If this is not handled carefully, it would lead to the reader being frustrated as they may be attracted to the non existent page. This may see the reader rather opting to go on another site which has very relevant and useful content.
Duplicate sites as a way of increasing ranking
Another black hat SEO tactic which is now on the wane is the use of a duplicate site. What the webmaster would do was to have a primary site they would want to promote then make some slight variations and have another operational site which would also be published. This was based on the hope that the search engines would be able to detect the two sites as different and then increase the chances of having them increase the chance of a better ranking for the site which is being promoted.
This tactic is now being rarely used these days as the search engines have become a little bit more complicated that they would be able to get the trick and flush out the sites. As such it is important to look for acceptable tactics which are in abundance and be patient in building the firm foundation for good ranking.
