Why is keyword stuffing ineffective for SEO?

The keywords you select to use within your search engine optimisation are of great importance and many online business owners are now aware of this. The keywords you use help the search engines to find content related to your business when a relevant search is carried out and give the search engine web crawlers and those carrying out a search a brief idea about what your website is about and what your business can offer them. Keywords play a highly significant role in bringing potential customers and businesses together and so are extremely important in search engine optimisation.

If you choose to use keywords within the content of your web pages and these keywords can attract the attention of a search engine, it seems logical to some inexperienced people that the more keywords present in the content, the greater the chance of being ranked highly by the search engines. This is not actually the case in the modern search environment. The major reasons for this fact can be explored in a relatively simple analysis.

In the past, many site owners filled their content with as many keywords as possible and hoped that this would get them noticed by the search engines and high rankings for relevant searches would be achieved. What the result actually was, however, was that the content within their websites was of low quality and made little sense because of the sheer abundance of keywords that had been stuffed into it.

When running an online business it is not just about getting traffic to visit your website, but getting those that do choose to visit your website to take an interest in what you are offering and to get them to trust your business too. The only way to give them the important information about your business is through the content you display on your pages. If this content has been created for the search engines and therefore is filled to the brim with keywords, it will be of little use and relevance to those actually visiting your website.

The search engines are aware of this and those websites that use keyword stuffing are no longer likely to be ranked highly in the search results of the major search engines. High quality content that includes keywords when appropriate and relevant is what the web crawlers look for and what the search engines like to rank highly in their results. Content that is written for the human audience and not just for the benefit of the search engines is what is recommended.

Keyword stuffing can really damage the progress of your SEO campaign and is no longer relevant in the current search environment. We at SEO Consult can help you to identify the most useful keywords for your business and show you how to use them effectively within the context of your comprehensive search engine optimisation campaign. We only use the most proven and up- to-date SEO techniques so you will have the greatest chance of online success by working with us.
