Bing is increasing in popularity and is thus gaining more of the market share. These are positive developments for Bing and also highlights for website owners that Bing should be considered in their search engine optimisation campaigns. Even though Google currently dominates the search sector, it can still be extremely useful for business to consider other major search engines such as Bing when trying to achieve high rankings.

Links play a significant role in search engine optimisation and all of the search engines use links in some way when determining their rankings. The link algorithms used by the search engines have increased in complexity in the last few years and site owners are obliged to put more careful consideration into their link building in order for the method to produce positive results.

Bing uses links when carrying out an evaluation of a website and has revealed some information to help guide site owners when they are creating links to their websites. Some of the most important information offered by Bing actually advises site owners against certain methods that are commonly used by some involved in link building as part of a search engine optimisation campaign.

Using a link farm or other source where money is paid in order for the establishment of links is strongly advised against. Bing does not regard these links as high quality and respectable and having links like this will not help your website to achieve higher rankings. The source of links is a great signifier of quality in the eyes of Bing and link farms are not a source of high quality.

Developing on from this, Bing has also stated that links that are established from websites that are irrelevant to your business and are not related to the content of your site should also not be used. Bing is looking for relevant and genuine links that can provide the search engine with some accurate information about the content within the pages of the site. Irrelevant links do not do this.

Using hidden links to your site is viewed by Bing as an unethical way of trying to get the attention of Bing through links and is strongly frowned upon. Sites found to be using this technique will not be rewarded.

Bing is looking for links to a website that have been established over a long period of time as this can be a sign that the links have been genuinely established and is also looking for links that are relevant and appropriate to the website. A link from a high quality and respectable website that is related to your business will be a lot more useful for your website than numerous low quality and irrelevant links that are established by working with a link farm or something similar.

We at SEO Consult can help you to build links that will be viewed favourably by Bing and that will help you to gain better rankings for your website in the search results provided by the search engine.
