There are many different search engine optimisation techniques involved in a search engine optimisation campaign. This is because the search engines take into consideration a number of factors when determining the ranking of their search results. These factors regularly change so that those in search engine optimisation can not easily manipulate the search engines into ranking certain websites highly. This is why it is necessary for a business to use a number of different methods in order to increase the likelihood of a higher ranking and an increase in traffic.

One factor which is thought by many involved in search engine optimisation to play an important role is the domain name used by a website. One particular issue concerning domain registration which is often thought to have an influence and be taken into consideration is how long a domain name has been registered. This is based on the idea that the longer a domain name has been registered, the more likely it is that the website will be well established and that it will feature a higher quality of content than those that have not been registered for very long.

However, John Mueller from Google has recently stated whilst responding to a user in the Google Webmaster forum that how long a domain name has been registered is not a point for consideration for Google when ranking websites. He claims that this is because this information is not always available for websites and so it would be difficult to compare different sites and he also questioned the usefulness of this data in terms of the affect it has in the determining of the relevancy and quality of a site when a search query is carried out. Others at Google have also been advising webmasters not to concentrate on the issue of domain length of registration in search engine optimisation.

There are many different issues and methods to consider when carrying out an effective search engine optimisation campaign. The length of domain registration is regarded by some involved in SEO as being of significance and whilst Google is claiming it is not a major factor in the ranking of search results, it has not been claimed that it does not have an effect at all. It is also possible that other search engines may use this type of data.

At SEO Consult we know how important it is to advise our clients of the best SEO techniques and methods so that they have successful search engine optimisation campaigns. As the search engines do not release information on the specific algorithms they use and exactly what a website needs to do and have in order to be ranked at the top of the search results when a relevant query is made, we recommend to our clients that they use the most proven search engine optimisation techniques that suit their business needs. This increases the chances of them improving their ranking with the search engines and increases the amount of traffic to their websites. SEO Consult constantly monitors any information offered by the search engines that can help us help our customers achieve success.
