Alternate link strategies: boost link popularity

When you want to bulk up your link profile, you essentially have these choices:

  1. Buy links. Most SEO companies don’t recommend using this as your main strategy as it can backfire.
  2. Trade links. Again, search engine optimization experts have gone cold on this strategy.
  3. Make links. This can be a great way to go, but often results in low-quality links.
  4. Beg for links. Another good strategy, albeit one that involves a lot of work.
  5. Attract links. This is the method that the search engines most approve of, as it represents an organic growth of the site.

There is no easy way to build your link profile. If there was, link profiles wouldn’t be so valuable to SEO. As you can see above, every link-building method comes with its own down side. Out of the above, apart from simply purchasing links, the easiest thing to do is create your own links, but it has the drawback of generating low-quality links. But what if you could build up those links in quality?

Link quality can be boosted

It is possible to boost the quality of a link, even after you’ve gained it. This miraculous-sounding achievement is actually quite easy, at least in comparison to some of the other pathways to high-quality links.

For example, say you’ve posted a video on YouTube as part of your SEO plan. Posting video content on YouTube can be a good way to double the use of any video content you create, as it doesn’t pose the same duplicate content issues as text-based content. Having a video featured on YouTube can also be a good way to generate links, and attract direct traffic from an alternative source.

Once the video is on YouTube, though, you want to get it into a position where it will attract attention. A buried video link is not going to boost your links profile in the way you want it to. The good news is that preparing your video and sneakily boosting the number of views it receives is a great way to increase its presence on YouTube itself, and can even get it seen via Google searches.

By working on these links, you enhance the quality of your link profile. Boosting the power of your links in this way isn’t going to be easy. In relation to the above example, YouTube has developed a fair amount of clout in its own right, but this means that competition to appear on its own search pages is fairly high. You can talk to our team at SEO Consult Australia about optimising videos for YouTube and other off-page concerns.

Although improving on these kinds of links takes a bit of work, it is well worthwhile. Out of all your linking options, the links that you can obtain for yourself are by far the easiest. The fact that you control so many aspects of the link is a major SEO bonus, allowing you to fine-tune it to your needs. Put the work in, and make these links even more valuable.
