SEO tactics for our ever changing cyber universe are increasingly important for your business and website success. Not only do business people make use of SEO, the person living down the street does too. But how? Why would that person want to use SEO? The answer is simple. The blogosphere is possibly the most powerful community on the planet. And naturally everyone wants their own crumb of that pie.

Businesses have also cottoned on to business blogging as a great SEO strategy. Now, blogging only works as an SEO strategy if people read your blog, but that isn’t where the buck stops. Not only does someone have to read your blog, but they have to like it enough to leave a comment about it. That is where the real magic is and that is where you want to be.

Not saying anything

Once you have written a blog entry it can be tempting to keep checking up on it to see how many comments you have received, or how many you haven’t. Lead yourself not into temptation because that will lead you further down the rabbit hole of SEO blogging doom.

You cannot force people to comment on your blog simply by adding more content. What you actually have to do is leave your own blog alone. That’s right; you are going to urge people to comment on your blog by not saying anything more about it.

Making your mark

Yes, you left your own footprint on the vastness that is the internet by starting your blog for personal or for business use. That is all fine and dandy but now you are going to leave your mark elsewhere too. The great thing about this is that leaving your mark all over the place can lead others right back to your blog. Follow comments from previous blog entries to the commenter’s blog and leave your mark on their entries you find value in.

This will show them that their comments mean more to you than words on a screen. This will also encourage them to go back to your blog and see what you have been up to so that they can return the favour. This works very much like the old saying of you scratch my back and I will scratch yours.

Link up

One thing that will get you noticed is if you thank all of those readers who link to your blog. Showing them courtesy is showing them that you really do appreciate their time and effort. This will also encourage them to link to your blog again and to leave comments for you again. Yet again this works in a manner of tit for tat, eye for an eye, and comment for a comment.

Another great way to attract attention and comments is by linking to other blogs through your own blog. This way you add value to your blog and get fresh inspiration from others. You are also not stealing anyone else’s thunder because you are crediting them through your link.

You are paying them a compliment and a “thank you”. This is one which will more likely than not be reciprocated; bringing you links and comments in return.
