The one thing each and every website owner strives towards in landing on that coveted first page of the SERPs. Everyone wants to be up there to gather the most targeted traffic. This is what it is all about for most. The most common reason your website shows up on that first page is because of your keywords. Most people do not understand that being there does not automatically guarantee that your website will immediately have a huge influx in traffic.

Most people absolutely do not want to hear this. After all this is why they poured maximum optimisation efforts into their websites for. They want that increased targeted traffic. The automatic question to this statement is: should websites still try to be on the first SERP page. The answer is of course you should make that your goal.

Keywords with high volume

If you rank well for a keyword that has a small number of searches per month, this means that your traffic from that keyword will not rise dramatically. That is why it is important to not only look at how competitive a keyword is. But to also look at the statistics for the amount of searches per month for that keyword. Thus when you optimise, the important criteria to look at is how many people are searching via that specific keyword.

Domain names must be keyword rich

Most people have come to realise than when you are running a Pay per Click campaign for the keywords that you have high ranking for, they must have keyword rich domain names. The reason being that such domain names point straight to their websites. This works exactly the same way for organic optimisation. Without relevant keyword rich domain names for organic SEO, your domain name will not show up in searches. You will not get click through traffic. Therefore make your domain name as relevant as possible for specific keywords.

Relevancy of content

It is fact that if you do not have content that is relevant to the searches that being carried out, searchers will not click on your listing. For blog sites you need to tailor every blog extract so that it has the relevant keywords that is being used in searches. The information used in your Meta tags for the title of your website also has to be relevant to the searches being done.

It is not only about keywords; it is about the relevancy of those keywords to searches. Stating that ranking on the first page in the SERPs gives no guarantee of increased traffic, is correct. To achieve an increase in traffic from that first page listing you must bring high volume keywords. You must also look at the relevancy of content and keyword rich domain names together.

Only once these three factors mesh that you can expect a market increase in traffic from that highly visibility on the first page. For success these three factors must be implemented before you even reach that covet first page.
