Fast Flip has been announced as the new Google website to feature news and current information. This new addition was rumoured to be called Flipper but Google has confirmed that it is actually Fast Flip and that Google hopes this website is going to appeal to many Google users.

Fast Flip basically allows users to skim and view news information and topics that are relevant and of interest at that time extremely quickly. Like a magazine, this information appears in sections and the sources of the information are varied. Articles that have been printed and also articles that have featured online will all be displayed in this way. It is possible to search through this information incredibly quickly meaning points of interest can be located with ease and in a short amount of time.

Fast Flip is also focusing on the personal experience and hopes to make the user feel special and important. With this in mind, Fast Flip has the ability to recognise and remember what has previously been searched for and read when a visitor has used Fast Flip and can use this information to show them other content they think the visitor may find relevant and of interest. If a user shows a preference for a certain journalist or a passion for a certain topic because they have read many articles pertaining to it, Fast Flip will give them the opportunity to read more content from this journalist or about this specific topic. Personalising the experience is an important part of this and something Google regards as important with many areas of its service.

Using Fast Flip it is possible to browse a wide selection of material that is displayed in a magazine like fashion and that is from a variation of sources quickly and easily and it is possible to personalise the information that you are shown and share it easily with others too.

Some of Google’s original partners in this venture are Atlantic magazine, Washington Post, NY Times, Fast Magazine, Newsweek and ProPublica. When a user clicks on an article or story in order to read it further, they will be directly taken to the website of the publisher. Adverts will also feature on the pages and income from these adverts will be split between Google and the publishers.

Google is excited about this news website and believes that it will be a hit because of the great experience users who visit the site will have. Users will be able to view information from many sources displayed in the style of a magazine meaning they can browse it quickly and will also be able to carry out searches.

If Fast Flip does become as popular as Google suggests it might, then like Google News it will also play a role in search engine optimisation. At SEO Consult we pride ourselves on being up to date and knowledgeable on all the most recent and important online developments and using the most efficient and successful search engine optimisation tools. Fast Flip may be considered a necessary part of search engine optimisation in the future and if it does, we will be ready to help clients work effectively with this service.
