A part of your SEO work should be in making your site more attractive. Getting seen in the search engines is a major part of SEO, it is true, but unless your site is attractive in and of itself, search engine position won’t be of much use. Your site needs to have the ability to attract attention. One great way to do this is to offer free tools to users.

If you’ve done some research as part of your search engine optimisation preparation, you’ve probably come across the hundreds of free SEO tools that populate the net. Search engine optimisation firms are well aware of the value of free tools to internet users and to their own marketing. The number of these tools available should show how easy it is to devise a useful device for your SEO if you know your own industry.

Why give something away?

There are two search engine optimization-based reasons to make your site as popular as possible. These are traffic and links. The effect of traffic on your site’s rankings is circular. The more traffic you receive, the higher your rankings are, leading to even more traffic. Attracting traffic with things other than your ranking is going to ultimately give your site a boost. Creating an attractive site should also attract some organic links, which will further boost your rankings.

Usually, the hardest part about designing a free tool is the idea. Although lots of sites design little applications to offer to their site users, even more sites take a far simpler route. Some of the best free tools are ludicrously easy to create and just as easy to post on your site. These include:

  • Powerpoint presentations. Internet users react well to graphs because they set out ideas in ways that are easy to understand. They react even more positively to Powerpoint presentations, which walk them through the graphs.
  • E-books in PDF. An e-book is usually seen as an item of real value, so giving one away seems generous. The content of your e-book should be just as polished as the rest of your site, and you can talk to us at SEO Consult Australia about SEO content.
  • Videos. Videos are an attractive form of content at the moment, and can be helpful for your SEO. Instructional videos have a particular value, and are more likely to get passed around the net.

Don’t forget about virals

Creating viral content can be incredibly difficult, but some sites manage to do it by accident. When creating your free tools and gifts for internet users, don’t overlook the possibility that they might be incredibly popular. If you want your tools to achieve as much as possible, they must be able to travel, or at least news about them should be able to travel. To that end, it’s a good idea to include a ’share this’ type button nearby, allowing users to advertise your business for you and allowing you to gather a little more information on them.
