Search engine optimization comes in many different shapes, sizes and difficulties. You get two main types of SEO, namely on-site search engine optimization and off-site SEO methods. Both of these types are very important components of your overall search engine optimization tactics, methods and strategies.

However, let’s focus on the on-site search engine optimization and how it can help you take control of and improve your search page rankings. How you rank in the search engine results pages, or SERPs, is very important for creating visibility and in turn web presence. You can never have too much or too great a web presence.

Key(word) importance

Everyone knows by now that your keywords are an important factor of your on-site, as well as off-site, search engine optimization. Without keywords, there is no other way for your target audience to find your website. So, this makes keywords very important. However, it does not make them a god over all your other search engine optimization tactics. They are simply a piece of the puzzle that is SEO.

You need to use your keywords strategically wherever you can. This means putting them in your page title and if possible making them the first words of that title. You should spread them out carefully across your webpage content, stick them into your anchor text and wherever else is appropriate like image or photo tags.

Spreading your keywords effectively over your page will prevent keyword stuffing in your content. Be wary of overall keyword stuffing because this will negate your search engine optimization.

Content

Content is a huge attraction not only for the web crawlers and search engines, it is also the very reason visitors come to your website. Don’t be stingy with the information offered in your content. Visitors come to your website for one reason, and one reason only, they want information. Weave keywords into your content without it becoming distorted, stilted or information deficient.

If you offer visitors little information and lots of filler keywords or buying prompts you aren’t going to get anywhere. They search engines pick up on your popularity through the volume of web traffic your website attracts and receives.

The more people like your website, the higher it will push your ranking in the SERPs. Content is another important piece of your search engine optimization puzzle. Neglecting it could leave you with a gaping hole where you don’t want one and less than effective SERP rankings.

Extras

Search engine optimization is a popularity contest these days. It is all about attracting visitors with titbits and juicy information. One way to enhance the appeal of your website, and in so doing up your traffic volume and increase your search engine optimization, is to add extras. Instead of having blocks of useful and interesting information on a blank canvas of a website, break it up with other things like images and photos and video or audio content. This is a great way to make your information and your website more appealing and more informative.
