Microsoft and Yahoo! have revealed information on a new deal and have now promised an improved and technologically superior internet searching service for internet users due to this recent agreement. The two companies have united to form a powerful and influential force within the search engine industry. Those at Microsoft and Yahoo! believe that they are en route to providing new and exciting technological developments that will be beneficial for those searching on the internet and for those advertising on the internet too. By the signing of this agreement, Microsoft has taken responsibility of the Yahoo! search service whilst Yahoo! is now to be the advertising force for the companies that use their premium search services. There have been rumours of this deal for a while now and finally the details are being revealed. The agreement is receiving a lot of interest from internet users worldwide.

How the combining of the two companies is going to work will be of great interest for those involved in search engine optimisation and most are very eager to learn how advantageous this development can be for users and advertisers too. Faster and more relevant search results are being promised which will mean increased search engine user satisfaction and also more success for advertisers with more appropriate and potential customers being directed to their websites quickly and efficiently.

This agreement is currently set to last ten years and within this time, Microsoft will have exclusivity for all of the search engine technology and developments that Yahoo! has and will be able to use this technology in their own search engine platforms. Microsoft currently has the search engine Bing and Yahoo! websites will now use this as their paid search and algorithmic search engine platform. However, Yahoo! will still use some of their other technology and information for other aspects of their business.

The combining of these two companies is allowing both Microsoft and Yahoo! to achieve a much greater strength and influence within the online search market. By joining forces, they are now more able to compete with their biggest rival, Google. However, this does not mean that Microsoft and Yahoo! will cease to compete in other areas of their business. They remain rivals in areas such as instant messaging and emailing and the competition will continue to be fierce.

The internet is constantly developing and with online searching being such an important and vital part of the web experience, how the information online is searched through and ranked is also constantly changing too.
