Google AdWords is a very popular choice for advertisers who want their adverts to feature on the first pages of Google search results when a relevant search query is made. This advertising program plays a role in search engine optimisation and many businesses now use it, meaning that often issues and problems will arise and it can take a little while for problems to be resolved due to the vast amount of work that the customer services team is faced with. However, one advertiser who uses the AdWords system recently decided that he required their assistance and threatened to commit suicide if Google did not respond to his email within a short period of time.

The man from India emailed Google AdWords and stated that if he had not received a reply within just a few hours then he would end his own life. This is obviously an extreme and highly worrying threat and whether the man was genuine at the time about his intended actions or not is unknown. Regardless of this, a threat such as this clearly demonstrates the importance and significance of search engines and programs like AdWords to businesses all over the world. The man stated that he had invested all of his money and time into his AdWords campaign and now that there was a problem with his campaign that he could not resolve, he had reached a level of desperation. This is a very serious example of the significant role search engines and the advertising opportunities they offer play in internet marketing and the difference they make to real businesses and real people striving for success.

Google did reply to this advertiser around a day later informing him that it was a holiday weekend and that a representative would contact him as soon as possible to try to help him resolve his AdWords issues. The response from Google was understanding and sympathetic to the situation of the man but did also inform him of the facts in terms of when it would actually be likely that he would receive a helpful response from a member of the AdWords team. The man emailed Google again and once again threatened suicide.

Taking such a drastic action as to threaten suicide in order to make Google AdWords reply to your complaint is not a regular occurrence and thankfully the man in this instance was not serious with his threat. Many fellow users of the AdWords program have commented that they have found the behaviour of this man disgraceful and completely unreasonable. Unreasonable or not, this man was desperate to promote his business online and became increasingly frustrated when this was not possible.
