The key to internet success

The key to internet success always seems to be changing. What works for search engine optimization one month doesn’t seem to work so well the next. Internet marketers seem to have a new genius idea every week. As soon as a site owner finds the perfect way to get in touch with their target internet users, everything shifts and they have to start again.

Although internet technology is changing at a sometimes startling rate, there is something that every site owner can rely on when planning their online campaign. Amidst the constantly shifting sea of the internet, the psychology of the average human being remains the same.

This might not seem like much. It certainly doesn’t automatically translate into a plan for success. What it does do, however, is provide the average site owner with a number of certainties, which they can then use for their search engine optimisation and their online plan in general:

1. People will always care about what’s in it for them. This is something that is constant and unchanging. The more deeply a business owner understands this, the easier it is going to be for them to attract customers.

This applies particularly to SEO content. When you want people to read your pages, you’re essentially asking them to give you some of their time. You need to provide something in return, something that can be promised before they click through to your pages. Researching the needs of your target internet users is an essential part of SEO, and you can talk to us about this at www.SEOConsult.co.uk.

2. People will always be attracted to success. It’s a sad comment on humanity, but there it is: successful people are always more likely to gain success. Although the ‘tall poppy syndrome’ has always negated this to some extent in Australia, successful people still have a way of sniffing out successful endeavours.

How does this apply to your website? The appearance of success is something that can help your SEO plans along. Sometimes, attracting more traffic is simply a case of… attracting more traffic. Just as success begets success, traffic can breed more traffic. Getting a start is difficult, but convincing your existing site users that you’re a popular site through comments, reviews and so on can be a good way to begin.

3. People will always respond well to the personal touch. One of the reasons for the runaway success of blogs and social media sites is the need for human contact on the net. Internet users tend to be attracted to sites that try to engage them on a personal level. A friendly tone in SEO content can achieve much.

4. People will always be repulsed by pushy personalities. Many businesses concentrate too much on what they want to get out of internet users. There’s a reason people avoid used car salesmen. The feeling that someone is only paying attention to get something out of you is universally repulsive. Try to focus on your site users in every move you make during search engine optimisation.
