Keeping a business website running at optimum levels that more than your initial optimisation of the website. There is a lot you need to know about your site traffic and the answers will tell you where to change things, what is working best and what really is not working at all. You need to your analytics. This is so that you can track exactly what happens once your site visitors land on your website.

You need to know where your site visitors are from and how often they come to your website. You need to know how long they actually stay on your website and what they do while they are there.

You must find out if they are taking the actions you want them to take and which of your marketing efforts bring you the best conversion rate. In addition, which of your keywords are converting the most site visitors into paying customers? These are the questions you will get answers to through using web analytics.

How the answers affect your business

Tracking exactly where your site visitors are coming from allows you to direct your optimisation and marketing more focused. Knowing how many of your visitors are repeat visitors shows you that you may have to change your techniques to draw visitors back. Measure your success with each change. Your bounce rate tells you different things. If they leave quickly, you must improve your content.

If they linger but do not convert, you need to work on your call of action or offer thing a more compelling reason to want to place orders. Your analytics reports show you where on your website your traffic is encountering problems. Errors lead to losing traffic and losing out on the chance to make sales. For your business to be viable, you need to fix errors as soon as they appear. Internet users have no patience to battle and slog through a website that hampers them. They simply leave and go to one of your competitors.

Know your target audience

Learning about what makes your website traffic ‘tick’ is vitally important. Analyse what items on your website they find distracting and which pages and information hold their attention. You need to know what makes them take action and how they respond to your images and your text. All of this means that firstly you can adjust your SEO tactics; you can fine tune specific areas that will be in place for any new visitors. Knowing all about your site visitors enables you to change your marketing efforts to fit their needs better. This all leads to higher conversion rates and more sales.

Analytics lead to answers that lead to success

Web analytics is a vital aspect of the success of your website and your business. Without analytics, you will not know which keywords are working the best. Nor will you know how you should change your keyword optimisation. Your analytics reports influence your whole SEO campaign and your marketing strategies. Without taking into consideration all the factors you learn through your analytics mean you are running blind.

What analytics software do you recommend? I’ve just used Goog.

Also a high bounce rate isn’t bad if you are targeting Adsense or other similar revenue. I believe if someone comes to the site. Sees the ads, clicks away, that counts as a bounce.
