So you have an online business with its own website. In your opinion your website is fantastic. You have thought of everything, or so you think, to make this website an enjoyable experience. The design of your website is creative and there is no doubt in your mind that internet users will find it as entertaining as you do.

Only one problem though, there are millions of websites that look exactly like yours, selling the same product as you and are much older, meaning they have greater exposure. What to do now?

There is one thing that you can do and that is to make use of some form of internet advertising to boost the visibility of your site. Many new website owners say that they struggle to get traffic in the first year to 2 years of putting their websites on the internet. There are just too many similar ones that are too strong for them to compete with.

By making use of internet marketing you give your website an opportunity to soar. The exposure you receive is overwhelming and the good thing is that it does not cost that much to apply. There are some impressive online advertising tools out there. These include Search engine optimisation and pay per click also known as SEO and PPC.

SEO and PPC are excellent tools

Search engine optimisation as you may know, is a tool incorporated on a site which increases the flow and quality of traffic to a website naturally through search engines such as Google, MSN and Yahoo, just to name a few. For SEO to be successfully one needs to edit the HTML source coding of the site and redesign it. Content needs to be keyword rich and the site needs to be optimised wholly.

PPC is a marketing tool which requires you to pay for each click an internet user makes on a link to your site. You get ad space by other website owners to place a link to your website. Luckily, you do not have to pay a fee to be featured but only have to pay every time someone clicks on your site.

PPC rates are quite affordable; however you are not always able to determine how much you will be spending on the campaign. Regardless, this form of advertising is very effective and your link is visible not only on search engines like in the case of search engine optimisation, but also on other platforms.

Which tool is best for your website?

You will find that both tools are very useful and you will benefit from both. If you are low on cash, then SEO should serve you well. It is low costing and can even be applied for free.

PPC on the other hand is so much faster when it comes to seeing results but does cost more. It never hurts to apply both campaigns on one website. Together they work well and will improve the amount of traffic.
