Search engines are obviously of huge importance to internet users. Millions of searches are carried out online each day by users from all around the world, using a number of different search engines. Google is currently the most popular search engine available and it attracts searchers from many different countries and searchers with varying wants and needs. Search engines are so valuable because they provide us with relevant information when we are looking for something.

There are millions of websites in existence and when trying to find something online, it can be incredibly difficult to find exactly what you are looking for. Search engines work towards combating this problem by asking us to give them a little bit of information about what we are searching for and then providing us with the most relevant results they are able to find. This relevancy and high quality of search results is vital if a search engine is going to be successful. It is largely due to the technology that Google uses which enables it to provide users with this type of service that has led to Google dominating search.

As search engines like Google have such an influence over internet users when they are searching for something and can largely determine the websites that they will visit in their search by providing these results on their first pages, businesses are eager to be ranked highly by search engines in order to gain exposure for their business and increase the amount of targeted traffic that visits their sites.

An efficient search engine optimisation campaign can help a business to show its relevancy and value to the search engines and then be ranked highly when an appropriate search is carried out. However, not all of the SEO techniques commonly used by site owners are ethical and this causes a problem. If black hat unethical SEO methods are used in order for a website to gain high rankings, the search engine is then recommending websites to its users that may not be relevant or valuable at all. This can damage the reputation of the search engine and encourage searchers to take their searches elsewhere.

In order to combat this manipulation through the use of unethical SEO techniques, the search engines are constantly updating their algorithms to stop black hat methods being productive. The search engines only want site owners to use ethical SEO methods within their SEO campaigns and so regularly develop new technology to stop those using black hat methods being successful. This is why search engine optimisation technology is regularly changed and updated and it is important for this to be done for those searching online and for businesses using ethical SEO methods too.

At SEO Consult, we only use ethical white hat SEO methods so that our clients have productive and respectable relationships with the search engines and their chances for higher rankings are increased. We regularly monitor any updates from the search engines so the campaigns of our clients can be adapted accordingly.
