How to create effective SEO content for real-time search results

Saturday, December 19th, 2009

Real-time search results are increasingly becoming an important issue for those involved in search and search engine optimisation. The search engines such as Google and Bing want to be able to provide their users with more real-time search results because they believe this type of information can be more relevant and useful for certain search queries. Due to the vast amount of information collected and stored by the search engines, it is proving a challenge for them to develop technology that will enable them to provide this type of results on their own.

The recent deals with Twitter and Facebook and the search engines Bing and Google will enable these search engines to give users some real-time search results in the form of information retrieved from the social networking websites. This means that social networking websites are to have an even bigger role in search engine optimisation than before.

Social networking websites have been increasing in popularity and more and more online businesses have also been creating profiles on websites like this to increase links, followers and to develop their brands online. However, with posts on websites such as Twitter now being displayed in the results of search engines, these social networking websites also now offer the opportunity for content to be ranked highly in the results provided by Bing and Google.

In order to increase the chance of the content you create on social networking websites being ranked highly in the real-time search results, there are a few things that you should keep in mind.

The first thing you should try to do is to talk about a topic with relevancy to many people and that users will likely be searching for at that time. Pick a popular subject that is also relevant to your business and try to write a unique piece of content using your keywords appropriately. However, the topic you write about does not always have to be related to your business and can be based on a current story of interest as links to your business do not always have to be given. Establishing followers on these websites is also of great significance for rankings and you are more likely to do this if you offer relevant and useful information about your industry but also if you show a more personal side and discuss other key issues too. Whenever possible, try to encourage others to interact with you and engage others in conversation.

If you want your content to be ranked highly in the real-time search results provided by the search engines then you have to make it as visible as possible by making it current. If you do this it could make a difference in terms of the amount of targeted traffic that visits your website and is therefore a significant part of a search engine optimisation campaign.
